Astronomy Events with Mission Astro

We are hosting a series of unmissable astronomy events at venues with superb views of the sky. We can’t wait to show you some hidden treasures above your head that you’ve never seen before. Our events are all in partnership with NOVA Stargazing, who have an array of top-notch telescopes which they bring to the events, and their astronomers have bountiful knowledge of the sky. Our summer astronomy events (SUN CHASER) are available now, and our winter events, MINI STAR HOPPERS AND STAR HOP, will be available for booking in early autumn.

SUN CHASER EVENTS

Ever wanted to know more about the star that keeps us all alive? In the midst of the solar maximum, we offer you a family-friendly session about our dazzling Sun. We explore the Sun with a talk from Dr Sarah Crick about aurora, solar storms and eclipses, as well as tips on how to observe the Sun safely at home from Jordan Mansfield. Each person will also get the opportunity to make a Sun mosaic, which they can take home to keep, and a chance to see the Sun through a solar telescope, weather permitting.

Mini Star Hoppers (Under 10s)

Whatever the British weather brings, we are ready to whisk off our miniature sky explorers on a jam-packed space adventure! We’ll have a short space talk, a quiz and stargazing! Plan A is to be outside in the field using telescopes and binoculars to see the Moon, stars and planets. If our plot is foiled by thick cloud cover, we will retreat inside and explore the heavens digitally and do fun, interactive space activities. Each child ticket includes a space goodie bag.

Star Hop (10 and over)

Join Dr Sarah Crick and her team for a night of astronomy greatness! You will be treated to an entertaining astronomy talk delivered by Sarah on a hot topic in the space sector, then dazzled by the delights in the skies through a telescope by Jordan from NOVA Stargazing. If the clouds blow in, you will be treated to a digital tour of the sky, a close up look at some HUGE telescopes and an astronomy quiz with an out-of-this-world prize for the victor!

All tickets include entry into a prize draw to win a private stargazing experience with NOVA.

NOVA Stargazing

We are partnering with NOVA Stargazing for our events. Jordan, the founder of NOVA, is an experienced stargazer and will be joining us for our three winter observing sessions, with his fleet of telescopes set on planets, star clusters, galaxies and nebulae.

Daleightful Bakes

Melissa’s cakes are famous locally and, in our humble opinion, the best in the Galaxy! At our events this year, we are proudly serving Melissa’s space-themed cake creations along with some delicious hot chocolate to warm us up on cold winter evenings.
