Questions about the courses

Astronomy courses represented by an astronaut holding a tablet

The perfect age for students to blast off with our courses is between 15 to 18. That said, if younger astronomers or adults returning to education have a true love and interest in space, they'll thoroughly enjoy them, too. The main thing is that students are hungry for knowledge and can concentrate on video footage for up to 15 minutes at a time.

After purchase, you'll have an entire year to complete the course.

Of course! Downloads of key information are available for all courses for you to keep.

After you've purchased any of our courses, you will gain instant access to them. If you're waiting for more than 20 minutes after purchase and you haven't received your login details, get in touch with Darren via email on: [email protected]

We know that investing in a course can feel daunting if you don't know what to expect. So, give our free mini “Collision Course" a whirl before you make your decision.

We've made sure all Mission Astro courses are accessible on your desktop, tablet and/or smartphone. The only thing you need to get going is one of these devices and access to the internet.

Mission Astro courses aim to be valuable for all types of learners. That's why we have created courses full of both videos and written activities. The videos are split up into shorter lessons of 15 minutes or less to ensure the material isn't overwhelming and can be retained better.

All Mission Astro courses are in British English.

Unfortunately, our videos do not contain subtitles.

Right now, Mission Astro courses aren't accredited. BUT we're working hard to change this, so watch this space!

We're more than happy to provide a full refund within 14 days of purchase to students who have only completed the first section of their purchased course. If you're enquiring about a refund, please make sure you don't access the other stages. If you do, we'll be unable to refund you the money.

Yes, you can watch the videos for the course without doing the final assessment at the end. That said, keep in mind that only those who complete the multiple choice assessment will receive a certificate of achievement and the mission fabric patch.

If you're looking for multiple enrolments, get in touch with a member of the team by filling in our contact form. We'll look into what we can do for you.

As of now, we do not offer the courses as live sessions, but watch this space! If you're looking for a live session, take a look at our Astronomy Tuition sessions, Insight Talks or Workshops.

Questions about the workshops

Astronomy workshops represented by a drawing of planets on a chalk board

Both workshops and insight talks are packed with value. The main difference is that workshops include a practical activity, while insight talks are based around listening.

Our workshops range in length from two hours to full days. This will depend on your chosen workshop, the age range of your students and your specific requirements.

All of Mission Astro’s workshops are held at schools and community spaces. Do you offer more bespoke workshops to tie in with my teaching?

We are proud to offer a truly bespoke experience to allow Mission Astro’s workshops to tie into your current teaching.

To book a workshop, simply head to our Contact page and fill in the form.

After you have booked a workshop with Mission Astro, we will arrange a call to discuss the requirements of your group and the learning objective. After our call, you’ll receive a workshop proposal that will break down the session, including the planned activities that have been personalised for your students.

You can book a workshop to take place from Monday to Thursday at standard daytime hours. If you’re looking for a workshop on a Friday evening or during the weekend, get in touch to let us know. We do have these slots available, but we will need to book them in advance.

Questions about the talks

Both our insight talks and workshops are jam-packed with information. The main difference between the two is that insight talks are more focused on the delivery of academic information without a practical activity. A slideshow is presented, too. Many students believe these feel more like lecture-style lessons. We incorporate a question-and-answer session at the end of every insight talk, too.

Mission Astro’s insight talks range in length from 30 minutes to one hour. The length of our talk will depend on your age group.

Mission Astro offers insight talks that are exciting and full of information for a wide age range, starting from four years old and up. We tailor all of our talks for our audience to make sure every student leaves our session feeling enthused and entranced by space.

Mission Astro is proud to offer a bespoke approach to insight talks to ensure we tie in and complement your short and mid-term syllabus. We’ll make sure to write and deliver your insight talk about your unique requirements. Just get in touch to discuss how we can help you.

You can book an insight talk from Monday to Thursday during standard daytime hours.

Questions about stargazing

Stargazing Events represented by a boy looking through a telescope

As a rule, we book stargazing on Friday nights. If you’re looking for a stargazing session to take place on a different day, get in touch and we’ll see if we can accommodate this.

Our public astronomy evenings take place at Hartley Wintney, Hampshire in the winter of 2024 and 2025 are:

  • 15 November 2024
  • 6 December 2024
  • 10 January 2025
  • 31 January 2025

Roughly, we’ll travel around 20 miles from Hartley Wintney, Hampshire. If you’re further away, please do get in contact and we’ll assess your case personally.

Nope! You do not need to have a telescope for a Mission Astro stargazing session. We’ll bring all the necessary equipment for a fantastic night under the stars.

We offer stargazing sessions from October to March. If, however, you’re prepared to stay up overnight, we can have a summer stargazing session. Please note, though, that summer stargazing sessions are suitable only for adults.

If it’s cloudy during our stargazing session, don’t panic! We’ll make sure you enjoy a digital tour of the sky and a Q&A session with an astronomer.

Of course! If you give someone a Mission Astro gift card, the recipient is free to choose from any of the courses, services or products we have available.

Your recipient has a whole year to use their gift card before it expires.
