Astronomy talks for your school or group

Mission Astro delivers engaging, energetic and extraordinary space talks. Whether you’re looking to book an Astronomy Talk for your class, assembly or a community group, we are here to transport our listeners to a place of wonder, beyond the bounds of the school curriculum. Our speakers are professionals in scientific communication and experienced at entertaining audiences of all ages and inspiring them to imagine the world with clarity, reality and awe. Have your space questions answered with us.

Which juicy space topic do you and your group want to hear first?

EYFS and Key Stage 1: Guest Space Talks

Infant school children are full of questions and some of our most entertaining audiences! Their imagination, excitement and energy is seemingly boundless! Allow us to be part of your classroom and help shape their young minds. We promise we will answer as many of their insightful questions as we can and, obviously, inspire them all to have careers in space.
hopscotch (large)

Solar system hopscotch

Our Solar System Hopscotch talk is all about inspiring a love and curiosity for planets outside of our own. EYFS and KS1 children in independent classes or with their year groups will learn about all the planets in the Solar System. Children will investigate some of the most unique and interesting moons too. Designed to deliver age-appropriate content in a way that captivates and sparks curiosity, Solar System Hopscotch is one of our most loved talks with littler Astronomers.

robots to saturn (large)

Sending robots to Saturn

EYFS and KS1 children are challenged to think about what we need to survive on Earth before exploring where we might find life away from our planet. Allow your year group or class to refine and develop their deduction skills, while building on the ability to compare. Enrich creativity as each child experiences robotic exploration of the moons in the outer Solar System before asking ourselves what experiences we might have on ice moons and which robots we might need to help us conquer there.

Key Stage 2 & Key Stage 3: Guest Space Talks

As children grow, they start to form ideas about the careers they want to pursue and how they can shape the world they live in and their environment. KS2 and KS3 are such important years to discover possibility; this is where we come in. With our talks, we encourage them to analyse and critique the world they live in and form their own opinions about space exploration.
lunar landing talk (large)

LUNAR LANDINGS

With a core focus on the moon and lunar space missions, allow your class or year group to make a step of greatness without leaving their classroom. We use storytelling to merge creativity with science. Students can then reflect and discuss: based on what we’ve learned about the Apollo missions, what can we do to prepare for future Artemis missions? How will NASA’s next lunar programme differ from its first, what are they trying to achieve and will anyone else beat them there?

avoiding asteroids (large)

Avoiding asteroids

An extremely exciting talk: Avoiding Asteroids is all about the real dangers circling in space (rather than light-sabres and Sith Lords!) Enchant your KS2 and KS3 students with a talk that covers asteroids, meteorites and planetary defence. What happens if an asteroid catapults from the asteroid belt towards Earth? Comparison and evaluation skills are built a plenty as we unpick the data we have collected from space rocks and see what role they can play in the creation and destruction of life.

Key Stage 4 & Key Stage 5: Guest Space Talks

GCSE and A-level students are a joy to visit; you may think we would shy away from exam year students but in fact, we happily and confidently embrace the challenge. Our higher level talks take the science that students study in the classroom and apply it to space puzzles so students can see purpose for their study and how what they are studying now can change the future.
extreme life (large) (medium)

Extreme life

Put a scientific spin on philosophical questions for your KS4 or KS5 students: where did life come from? This talk teaches the skill of evidence-based debate, forming an argument based on data. Mission Astro’s Extreme Life talk discusses the origins of life and the potential places we could find life inside the Solar System. Mix in robotic exploration, astrobiology and exoplanets and your students experience a talk that will ignite their imagination and challenge them to ponder what’s beyond the Earth.

into darkness (medium)

Into the darkness

KS4 and KS5 will forever be fascinated by the elusive and secretive black hole. What happens when stars fall into black holes? And how can we study something we struggle to see? Blast into the darkness and explore black holes with us. From their threat levels to their stellar neighbours to the technology we use to find, study and monitor them, Into The Darkness is all about exploring the impact black holes have on their environments. From supermassive to star-sized, we unmask nature's villains.
